To check the lifter turn the crank so that the camshaft lobe is not pushing against the lifter and the valve and push down on the lifter with say a hammer handle. Web26 dec. 2008 · I just built a 350 wilth retro hydraulic roller lifters. The cam is very small torque cam for 4x4 Isky. The lifters make a LOT of noise when just started after sitting sometimes. It always makes some lifter noise. We replaced the lifters with new ones from Melling and it still has the same problem. Oil pressure at idle is about 28psi hot.
